The UK government's furlough scheme has been extended by another month until the end of June, the Chancellor has announced. Rishi Sunak said the move to extend the furlough was made because of ongoing social distancing measures.
Yesterday, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, filling in for Prime Minister Boris Johnson, announced the extension of the UK's coronavirus lockdown for a further three weeks.
Under the government scheme, firms can furlough their employees, with the government paying up to 80% of their wages up to a maximum of £2,500 a month.
It was originally open for three months and backdated from March 1 to the end of May. The Chancellor said: "We've taken unprecedented action to support jobs and businesses through this period of
