The government has announced a fresh package of financial aid for the self-employed after a change of heart on its policy from last week.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak made the announcement in a remote press conference this afternoon. He pledged he hadn't "forgotten" the self-employed, and said he understood why they were feeling uncertain for the future.
The government will pay self-employed people up to £2,500 a month for the next three months as they claim up to 80% of their income over the past three years.
This scheme is open to anyone with trading profits of up to £50k a year and is reserved for those who earn most of their income from self-employment.
