A coronavirus patient still had traces of the infectious pathogen in her eyes long after the illness had been cleared from her nose, researchers have claimed.
According to the latest figures, coronavirus has so far killed more than 190,000 people across the world, with over 2.7million cases of the deadly disease now confirmed.
Now, researchers say their latest findings highlight the importance of avoiding touching the nose, mouth and eyes as well as frequent hand washing.
The 65-year-old patient, who was Italy’s first confirmed case of Covid-19, showed signs of conjunctivitis after being admitted January 23 to a hospital, according to a report in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
