Nurses treating coronavirus patients around the world are getting ill and in some cases even dying because of the shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) in hospitals.
Olga Matievskaya, an intensive care nurse in New Jersey, US, decided to do something about it. She created an appeal on online fundraising site GoFundMe to raise money to buy PPE for her team at Newark Beth Israel Medical Centre.
Donations flooded in. Olga quickly collected more than $12,000 (£9,600) which she used to buy about 500 masks, 4,000 shoe covers and 150 jumpsuits.
