World Health Organization’s director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday that he regrets U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to withhold funding for the organization as the U.S.
has been a “long standing and generous friend to WHO.” He added that with the support and the money of the U.S. government and people, WHO works to improve the health of many of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people.
Dr. Tedros said that WHO is reviewing the impact of any U.S. funding withdrawal on the organization’s work and will work with other global partners to fill in any financial gaps.
