Three areas in England are showing a worrying increase in coronavirus cases over a seven-day period. Figures released today for the seven days to August 25, are based on Covid-19 tests carried out in laboratories and in the wider community.
The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people with Pendle recording the highest rate in England with 52.
This is the equivalent of 56.5 per 100,000 people but it is down from 68.4 which was recorded last week. The rate in Blackburn with Darwen is 54.1, down from 58.8, with 81 new cases and Oldham is third, where the rate has fallen from 75.1 to 54.0, with 128 new cases.
