Covid-19 has not mutated into different types, scientists believe - potentially a huge boost in the search for a vaccine. Researchers had feared that there were more than one type of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the killer disease, circulating - with one more deadly than the other.
But scientists from the Medical Research Council-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) have branded this "unfounded".
Although thousands of mutations have been found, researchers say the numbers are still relatively low, which is grounds for optimism.
