Australian soap Neighbours resumed filming this week, sparking hopes that other shows could soon follow suit. Cast members have been isolated into three groups, with no kissing or hand holding and camera tricks used to make actors appear closer than they are.

The new measures have been designed to ensure the safety of the cast and crew on set in Melbourne. The iconic Aussie soap - which turned 35 in March - halted production last month amidst the coronavirus lockdown.

As such the show is currently airing just three times a week - instead of the usual five - here in the UK. The decision to resume filming has cheered the industry.
