The council says it will look to repair one of the iconic Manchester Bee sculptures after its head was sawn off by yobs. Town hall bosses condemned the attack in south Manchester as a 'mindless act of vandalism'.

As reported in the Manchester Evening News, the cruel act at Crowcroft Park on Longsight's border with Levenshulme sparked widespread outrage.

The damage was spotted by a walker on Easter Sunday. Councillors said the bee - named 'Bee Unique' - has now been removed to a storage facility.

The painted sculptures, which adorned parts of the city centre on a fun-filled trail throughout 2018, were eventually sold off at a huge auction to raise money for the Lord Mayor of Manchester's We Love MCR charity.
