Covid-19: 970 new cases and 13 further deaths

The Department of Health has confirmed 970 more cases of Covid-19 and 13 further deaths. The number of people in ICU is 28, down 1 from yesterday.

As of 2pm today 238 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised. Of today's cases, 470 are men and 494 are women and 64% are under 45 years of age.

The median age is 37. 348 people tested positive in Dublin, 60 in Limerick, 59 in Cork, 59 in Wexford, 55 in Louth and the remaining 389 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said: "The current trajectory of the disease in the community is of grave concern. "In the last seven days to midnight Monday, we have reported 4,478 cases, an increase of more than 110% over the preceding week." Dr Holohan said: "In the last 5

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. - Washington Commanders safety Deshazor Everett has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for the fatal car crash that took the life of his girlfriend Olivia Peters. According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Everett was charged after investigators determined he was driving over 90 mph just before the crash. Authorities say Everett, 29, turned himself into the Louduon County Adult Detention Center Tuesday afternoon. RELATED: Washington Football Team player discharged from hospital after car crash that killed Maryland womanBoth Everett and Peters were traveling north on Gum Spring Road near Ticonderoga Road in a 2010 Nissan GT-R the night of the crash in December 2021. Loudoun County Sherrif's Office said the vehicle the couple was in veered off the right side of the roadway, struck several trees, and rolled over.  Peters was taken to StoneSprings Hospital where she died from her injuries. Everett was taken to Reston Hospital Center and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Everett posted a $10,000 secured bond and has been released from custody.
