MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A separate trial will be held for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd because concerns over COVID-19 are too great to have all four ex-officers charged in the case go on trial in the same courtroom at one time, according to court documents filed Tuesday.
Chauvin’s trial will begin on March 8, while the trial for the other four officers—Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane—will begin on Aug.
