Covid-19 impact: Summer sales to be a washout for consumer durable firms

NEW DELHI: A nationwide lockdown that started late March and will cover half of April will have a severe impact on sales of air conditioners, refrigerators and other white goods as electronics companies fear losing out on peak summer season sales.

March, April and May account for 30% to 35% of sales for the industry, according to estimates from companies. In 2019, India's appliance and consumer electronics market was at Rs764 billion, according to estimates by Care Ratings.
