NEW DELHI : Amid serious concerns over shortage of personal protection equipments for health workers, the government has put ramped up domestic manufacturing of PPEs and medical equipments including ventilators to meet the increasing demands.
While premier research organization, Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has decided to collaborate with local manufacturers to produce about 20,000 N99 masks per day, Bengaluru based Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) would provide support in manufacturing of 30,000 ventilators.
Two domestic producers are currently manufacturing N95 masks and supplying 50,000 masks per day which would go upto 1 lakh masks per day within the next week, said the government.
