Covid-19: One further death, 434 new cases confirmed

The Department of Health has been notified of a further434cases of Covid-19, whileonefurther death has also been recorded. It brings the overall death toll in Ireland to 4,867, with the cumulative number of cases standing at 245,743since the pandemic began.

Of the cases confirmed today, 74%were under the age of 45, with a median age of 31. Geographically, 217of the cases were in Dublin, 30 were in Kildare, 30 were in Cork, 27 in Limerick, 21 in Donegal and the remaining 109 cases were spread across 20 other counties.

The number of people hospitalised with the virus stands at 166, of which 48 are being treated in ICU. The 14-day incidence rate nationally stands at 117.4 per 100,000 people, with Donegal, Offaly, Kildare and Longford among
