US President Donald Trump has confirmed he and First Lady Melania have tested positive for Covid-19, adding they will begin the process of quarantine and recovery "immediately". "We will get through this together," Mr Trump said in a tweet as he announced the test result.

The news was later confirmed in a letter from the President's doctor. The White House physician confirmed President Trump will carry out his duties "without disruption" during quarantine which will take place "within the White House".

They are "both well," doctor Sean Conley said. "I expect the president to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering".
