Dozens of prisoners from Renfrewshire who are nearing the end of their sentences could get out of jail early, council documents have revealed.This week justice minister Humza Yousaf announced plans to allow the early release of a limited number of prisoners who are serving short sentences or are close to the end of their time behind bars as part of emergency Covid-19 measures.Renfrewshire Council has said there are 32 prisoners from the area who would qualify for release as a result of their sentence nearing an end.At present, it is expected around a third of these will be released early on a "phased basis" in the next few weeks .The radical move was revealed in papers which were presented to the council's emergencies board today (Friday).O
