The number of people who have quit smoking in West Lothian has dropped over the last 12 months.And the estimated number of smokers has risen for the first time in seven years in West Lothian as well as in Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian.In West Lothian, the number of people who smoke has risen from 26,618 to 26,762 in the last 12 months.The number of smokers nationally has also increased from 806,817 to 808,829.New research by Cancer Research UK indicates that Scotland will not achieve its smoke-free ambition by 2034 if current smoking prevalence trends continue.And the charity published its Scotland Smoking Prevalence Briefing, which highlights that smoking is a leading cause of preventable disease and premature death in Scotland,
