Coronavirus has put considerable strain on the UK welfare system causing an increase in demand for services and support. On November 2, 2020, the Scottish Government introduced a five level tiered system of preventative measures to protect people from the pandemic and over the weekend, First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, announced that from Boxing Day, all regions within mainland Scotland will observe Tier 4 restrictions.
This means there will also be changes to how the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) provide essential support while keeping customers and staff safe from the new, highly contagious strain of the virus.
