E-book demand soars following library closures as a result of coronavirus

The temporary closure of Stirling’s libraries has seen demand for eBooks soar.Stirling Council has revealed there has been a 99 per cent increase in eBook loans and a 138 per cent increase in eAudio book loans.The council closed its libraries on March 17 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.But the council has been heartened by the strong and increased community support it has seen for its online services and is seeking to provide more during lockdown.The libraries service has been posting videos of Bookbug songs and sessions on its Twitter and Facebook pages, along with fun offerings such as a daily quiz, wordsearches and links to helpful information and resources.Stirling readers, young and old, have been switching to virtual reading to
