Ed Davey has spoken movingly about the challenges of looking after his disabled son during lockdown - and his “anger” at Dominic Cummings for breaking the rules.
Sir Ed, the Lib Dem interim leader, is running to fill the role permanently. His son, John, is 12 - but didn’t say “Daddy” until he was nine.
He has an undiagnosed neurological condition which means he can neither walk nor talk properly. “It's been the biggest challenge of my life,” Sir Ed told the Mirror. “And thanks to my amazing wife we've coped and John is doing amazingly well and is a source of inspiration for me.” But while he admitted he was “blessed” to have a steady income and a home with a garden, he admitted lockdown had presented some challenges.
