Boris Johnson is standing by Dominic Cummings despite police saying they would have taken action if they had stopped him on his trip to Barnard Castle.
Amid the mounting anger and significantly plummeting poll ratings, the Prime Minister said he “regards this issue closed”. He made the remarks after Durham Constabulary said it did not intend to take "retrospective action".
