Manchester United chief Ed Woodward is privately reluctant to spend above £70m on any player this summer as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Red Devils revealed the significant financial impact of the virus outbreak on Thursday, with their net debt rising by almost £130million.

Harry Maguire’s £80m transfer fee was the key reason for the jump, which was paid upfront as opposed to in instalments, although the pandemic has also played its part.

And according to the Evening Standard, United executive vice-chairman Woodward is privately reluctant to spend above £60-70m on any player in the summer transfer window.
