Fears 'disaster mode' at under-pressure London hospitals is starting to spread across the country amid warning over new Covid strain

It comes after it was reported last night that a hospital in the capital is in 'disaster medicine mode' and unable to provide 'high standard critical care' because it is understaffed and swamped by Covid-19  patients.

The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel has reportedly sent an email to notify staff of the worrying situation, a campaigning doctor revealed on Twitter.

The leaked email warned that the Royal London has only one nurse for every three Covid patients being treated in intensive care.
