Coronavirus has claimed a pop culture staple that we never saw coming. After the cancellations of Glastonbury and Eurovision and countless TV shows, concerts and events, it has been announced that Playboy will cease to print.
The iconic magazine, founded by Hugh Hefner in 1953, will now go digital, meaning the Spring issue, due out this week, will be its last issue for 2020.
Playboy Enterprises CEO Ben Kohn wrote in an open letter on Medium: ‘As the disruption of the coronavirus pandemic to content production and the supply chain became clearer and clearer, we were forced to accelerate a conversation we’ve been having internally: the question of how to transform our US print product to better suit what consumers want today … [and] engage
