Fury as selfish shoppers stock up on non-essential DIY supplies ahead of Easter break

Selfish shoppers have been snapped stocking up on DIY and gardening equipment ahead of the Easter weekend – despite the crackdown on non essential shopping.

Shops that are exempt from the government-sanctioned ban are food retailers, pharmacies, hardware stores, corner shops, petrol stations, shops in hospital, post offices, banks, newsagents, laundrettes and pet shops.

But there are calls for the measures to go further, with home improvement retailer the Range being pressurised to close during the coronavirus lockdown which isn't set to lift for several weeks.

Thousands have signed a petition calling for the company to shut up shop, arguing that people are being allowed to buy non essential goods.
