A gang of feral chickens are terrorising a quiet suburb – and have kick-started a plague of cat-sized rats.Over 250 of the birds descended on Titirangi, Australia, in January – but a council operation to remove them was foiled by the coronavirus lockdown.The population has since skyrocketed, with fed-up locals begging each other to stop feeding them.Others claim the amount of food left out has led to an infestation of cat-sized rats.Greg Presland, the chair of the Waitākere Ranges community board, told the Guardian: “There's a very kind-hearted local who feeds them and has kept feeding them so the numbers have started to spike up again.“I know who it is and I can’t make her stop.
