From regularly washing your hands to wearing a face mask, there are several things you can do to reduce your risk of coronavirus.
Now, scientists claim that gargling with mouthwash could also help to reduce your risk of Covid-19. Researchers from Ruhr-Universität Bochum claim that the virus can be ‘inactivated’ by certain commercially available mouthwashes.
In the study, the team tested the effects of eight mouthwashes that are available in pharmacies or drugstores in Germany. Each mouthwash was mixed with virus particles in the laboratory, as well as an interfering substance to recreate the effect of saliva in the mouth.
