Children could go back to school as early as next month, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson confirmed during Saturday’s No.10 coronavirus briefing.
Mr Williamson defended plans to send children back to schools, claiming a new track and trace system will be in place to protect children.
The Education Secretary said school is the "safest place to be" for some children and said the approach is "based on the best scientific advice" available.
He said children who have symptoms will qualify for Covid-19 testing and a track and trace system will be in place to monitor spreading.
