Another 12 people have died at Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19. It means the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the region is now at least 1,653 - although the true number is thought to be much higher.

Today's figure is slightly higher than Friday, but continues the recent general downward trend of a falling daily death toll.

In the last 24 hours another four deaths were recorded at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, while there were three deaths at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

A further two deaths were recorded at Stockport, while trusts in Salford, Tameside and Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh all recorded one death each.
