Health workers who don't feel safe treating coronavirus patients without appropriate personal protective equipment have been told to decide 'whether they are in a risky situation or not'.
Professor Yvonne Doyle, the medical director for Public Health England, said NHS staff would have to judge if they had the right Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
Asked whether she would support health staff refusing to work without the proper equipment, Prof Doyle said: "Certainly people have to make their decisions based on whether they are in a risky situation or not." She told the daily No 10 news conference: "It is very difficult to legislate for all of that from a distance here.
