A hero nurse who left retirement to take charge of London’s NHS Nightingale hospital has been hit with a parking fine while helping to save coronavirus patients.
Deirdre Barr, from Derry in Northern Ireland, has been slapped with the £130 ticket despite a leaflet on her windscreen stating she was an essential worker.
The 62-year-old was appointed director of operations at the 4,000-bed emergency field hospital at London's ExCel last month before finding the cruel penalty notice, reports Belfast Live.
She was left dismayed after returning to her car in Canary Wharf after a long shift on Friday to find the notice stuck to her windscreen.
