Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan is expected to give fresh advice to Government on the use of the Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines.
It follows new recommendations from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) that may help speed up the vaccination programme.
After many days of deliberations, NIAC has recommended that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should be given to people aged 50 years and older.
It has also recommended that the single-dose vaccine can be given to people under 50, if there is no option of another vaccine.
