Hospital bosses lost two Covid test swabs which may have proved an elderly man had the disease before he became critically ill and died, an inquest heard.
Francesco Giordano, 79, passed away as a result of Covid at Tameside General - just 12 days before his wife Joan of nearly 50 years also died.
The Stockport inquest heard how Joan joined him at his bedside and held his hand 'for a few hours'.
