Ian Rush believes the current Liverpool team could be “actually better” than the greats of the past. It is the ultimate compliment from an Anfield legend to Jurgen Klopp’s generation who are already European champions – and on the verge of winning their first title in 30 years.
Rush, in that triumphant team of 1990, claims it is difficult to draw comparisons especially as he was part of one of the greatest and most successful club sides in history.
But their leading all-time striker – who won five titles and the European Cup during two spells at the club – says Klopp can now add the trophies to go with the records they have already broken.
