In its new plan, ICMR is planning to move to 24x7 working model at its existing laboratories to increase the number of tests being conducted each day.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has readied the plan to scale up India’s testing capacity to least one lakh tests a day in order to prepare for the worst-case scenario in the upcoming months.

The numbers of new infections continue to surge. As on Monday, India has reported a total of 4,067 positive cases after testing as many as 96,264 samples in over 192 laboratories across the country so far.
