India yet to decide on indemnity for local makers of Covid-19 shots: Report

coronavirus vaccines, Vinod Kumar Paul, a top adviser to the government, on Friday said.The country has been vaccinating people with AstraZeneca shots produced locally by the Serum Institute of India (SII) and Covaxin made by local firm Bharat Biotech, and it will commercially launch Russia's Sputnik V shots by mid-June.Amid discussions over possible legal protection to foreign vaccine manufacturers Pfizer and Moderna over their coronavirus jabs in the country, the Serum Institute has also sought protection against liabilities."Not just Serum Institute of India, all the vaccine companies should get indemnity protection against liabilities if foreign companies are granted the same," sources added.Earlier last year, SII CEO Adar Poonawala had.
