A family have shared their heartbreaking experience of what it is like to lose a loved one in a care home after they were unable to say goodbye to a much-loved great grandmother.
Gwendolean Davis was 84 when she passed away from coronavirus at Bluebell Court care home in Broughton, Salford, last week. She was diagnosed with dementia nine years-ago but had remained in good health until she began to develop symptoms of COVID-19 over Easter weekend.
A decision was made to treat Gwendolean inside the care home, where she died on Wednesday 29 April. Her family were unable to visit or speak to the great grandmother during her final days, and relied on updates from care home staff who stayed with her until she passed away.
