Jay Z is not happy that ‘deepfake’ videos have been doing the rounds of him rapping to Hamlet and Billy Joel, so he’s decided to take action.
The rapper’s label Roc Nation has reportedly filed copyright notices to Vocal Synthesis – the anonymous creator of the videos found on YouTube.
Deepfakes use artificial intelligence, which in this case make Jay Z rap to Billy Joel track We Didn’t Start The Fire and the ‘to be or not to be’ soliloquy from Hamlet.
According to The Guardian, Vocal Synthesis has revealed that Jay Z has filed takedown notices against the videos, with Roc Nation stating that the content ‘unlawfully uses an AI to impersonate our client’s voice’.
