England fans were blown away as they saw Paul Gascoigne at his best in a Euro 96 replay of the win over Scotland. ITV4 are showing all the games from the tournament 24 years ago as the coronavirus lockdown continues to suspend football.
Hosted in England, Gascoigne was part of the Three Lions side after scoring 19 goals in his first seasons with Rangers. The forward opened his account for the tournament in the second game, a 2-0 win over Scotland at Wembley Stadium.
And Gazza’s goal was the most iconic moment of his career in the famous white shirt. Picking up the ball from Darren Anderton, the then 28-year-old flicked it over Colin Hendry’s head with his left foot.
