Jeremy Clarkson insists pandemic won’t stop him driving amid lockdown as ‘you can’t get coronavirus in car’

Jeremy Clarkson has insisted the global pandemic won’t stop him driving, because you ‘can’t catch coronavirus in a car’. The UK coronavirus death toll has surged to 1,019, after 260 people died in the last day.

And, speaking about the health scare, the Grand Tour host revealed his ‘helpful suggestion’ to help people travel – despite the country being on lockdown.

Addressing pictures that have popped up across social media of packed trains and tube platforms, he explained that the crowds ‘aren’t anyone’s fault’ as there will be ‘issues’ if you shut a country down overnight.

But, discussing the issues in his Sun column, the 59-year-old explained: ‘I do, however, have a helpful suggestion for people who really do need to get to work.
