Judges will start sentencing defendants who are on bail, as the justice system begins to expand its work while the coronavirus crisis continues.
Since the government imposed the lockdown on March 23 in response to the pandemic, only cases in which defendants are in prison have been held at crown courts and magistrates courts.
In the crown court they have appeared via the prison video link system, and barristers have linked to the case remotely from elsewhere, using video conferencing software.
Judges and court clerks have usually been the only people physically in the court room. In the magistrates court, lawyers have continued to attend to deal with cases where defendants have been produced from custody.
