Junior football chiefs are to launch an independent probe into the controversial circumstances surrounding Auchinleck Talbot being named champions.
It follows the resignation of the west region’s acting president Colin Chisholm - a Talbot director - after a leaked memo exposed a late u-turn on a decision to null and void the season was taken after his intervention.
Talbot were awarded the title despite sitting third, 12 points off leaders Kilwinning Rangers but with nine games in hand when the coronavirus crisis brought football to a standstill.
In the leaked document Chisholm warned league bosses that a null and void outcome would create problems with nominating a side to compete in next season’s senior Scottish Cup.
