A group of six people have been fined AU$4,000 (€2,450) each after lying on border declaration forms whilst trying to enter Queensland from New South Wales on Saturday.
According to the police, the group said they had been working in NSW for the past three weeks but evidence from their phones showed they had been in a coronavirus hotspot in Victoria in the past 14 days, which they did not mention on their border forms.
Travellers from Victoria or anyone who has visited the state within the past two weeks are banned from entering Queensland under new coronavirus restrictions.
