AUSTIN, Texas - March for Our Lives is again gathering at the steps of the Texas State Capitol demanding action on gun safety in the wake of the Uvalde, Texas mass shooting.The organization is rallying with the parents whose children were killed in the May 24 shooting at Robb Elementary School, as well as survivors from the 2018 mass shooting at Santa Fe High School and youth activists from across Texas.The rally is to urge Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to call a special session immediately and to raise the minimum age to purchase an AR-15 to 21. "Three months since the horrifying and preventable tragedy at Robb Elementary School, Governor Abbott still hasn’t taken action to keep kids safe and prevent gun violence," said the organization in a release.

PHILADELPHIA - At least six shootings rang out Friday night into Saturday morning as another summer weekend in Philadelphia became a violent one.The violence began with a fatal shooting in the city's Kingsessing neighborhood when police say a 31-year-old man was killed. He was shot at least four times on the 5400 block of Chester Avenue around 10 p.m. With the next 30 minutes, police say two more people became the victims of two separate shootings.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia food delivery driver says he out of a job after his expensive bike was stolen while he was picking up orders. Dajon Murray told FOX 29 that he was making his last stop of the night at the Wawa on 37th and Spruce streets in University City early Friday morning. Murray said when he left his bike near the front of the store and when he turned around to pickup the order someone stole it. Wawa employees shared surveillance video with Murray that he says captures the bike thief in the act. Dajon Murray said he was getting a pickup order at a Philadelphia Wawa when someone stole his expensive electric bike. Murray said the electric bike costed more than $600 and he only had it for about a month.  "Soon as I turned around the corner, I just saw my bike missing," Murray told FOX 29's Shawnette Wilson. Murray said the electric bike costed more than $600 and he only had it for about a month. "It gets around pretty good, I would say, so it was great for work," Murray said.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is reforming its cold case investigation branch that was forced into dormancy as homicides surged across the city and stretched resources thin. "It was very unfortunate, but the cold cases ended up going by the wayside," Captain Jason Smith from the department's homicide unit told FOX 29's Kelly Rule. There are currently more than 4,000 unsolved murders in Philadelphia dating back to 1990, and just last year the city set a historically bloody benchmark of 562 killings. Smith said as homicides continued to pour in, he was forced to begin assigning investigators from the Cold Case Unit to probe active homicides. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"We will continue to work those investigations, but in order to do that effectively I need a team of investigators dedicated to that purpose; to work on cold case investigations," Smith said. The department's revamped Cold Case Unit currently consists of two teams and four investigators, but Smith expects to double the unit's manpower by mid-September. Together, the team will work off tips and pull old case files to meticulously go through the details of the thousands of unsolved murders.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a child who was in the backseat of a car when it was stolen Thursday evening in Philadelphia has been found safe. The theft happened at the Sunoco gas station at the intersection of Belfield and Ogontz avenues sometime before 6 p.m. A spokesperson with the Philadelphia Police Department said the child has been reunited with his mother. The vehicle and the suspected car thief have not been located, according to police.

Parents are left scrambling and many are expressing confusion and frustration."I’m very confused! KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - A lunchtime panic erupted at King of Prussia mall when a witness says a woman pulled out a gun during an argument with another shopper about cutting in line. The incident reportedly happened at the Five Guys restaurant in the mall's food court. Witnesses say the dangerous spat sent shoppers stampeding towards the exits. The woman was quickly taken into custody by responding officers from the Upper Merion Police Department. No one was hurt and no shots were fired, but the brief chaos was enough to leave some shoppers and employees shaken."I'm thinking it's like a mass shooting or something," a witness told FOX 29's Chris O'Connell.

PHILADELPHIA - The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the fatal shooting of a Philadelphia man in Atlantic City. According to authorities, the shooting happened on Thursday around 12:06 a.m. Officials say officers from the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a Shot Spotter Alert near the 1300 block of Baltic Avenue. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESOfficers found 31-year-old Jordan Eaddy and he was pronounced dead on scene, according to the Prosecutor's Office. Authorities did not detail the extent of his injuries. Police are urging anyone with information on the shooting to contact the prosecutor's office at 609-909-7800.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia mother says her daughter was left alone for hours at daycare after the class left for a field trip to a local amusement park. Dana Jones and her family picketed outside of Creative Kids Daycare Center in Mount Airy on Wednesday morning to publicize their frustration. "This should never have happened to my child and I want to make sure it never happens to any other child," Jones said. According to Jones, the incident happened a little over a week ago when the daycare had a planned trip to The Funplex.Jordyn, 6, was walked into the daycare by her father who even had a brief conversation with one of the teachers.MORE LOCAL HEADLINESJones said her daughter was in the bathroom when she heard the teachers rounding up the students to leave for the field trip. "While she was in the bathroom, she heard ‘hurry up’ and when she came out of the bathroom, there was no one to be found," Jones said.Daycare Director Darrel Davis acknowledged the child was somehow left behind and said they feel awful."It was one of those mornings where it was just a perfect storm of what happened, we are definitely thankful nothing happened to the child, she was perfectly safe," Davis said. Jordyn, 6, told her mother that she was in the bathroom when she heard teachers start to round up students to leave for a field trip. Creative Kids Daycare Center has been in business for over a decade and never had an incident like this, according to Davis. Another parent who was picking up their child found Jordyn all alone and took her to the daycare's other building a block away. "Me getting that phone call, working 30 minutes away, my mind went through so many scenarios," Jones said.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - A 27-year-old man is dead after he was shot in the chest and the neck in North Philadelphia.Officials say the shooting happened Monday night, just before 8:30, on the 2800 block of North 26th Street.Responding officers found the 27-year-old man suffering from gunshots to the chest and neck.The man was taken to Temple University Hospital where he died a short time later.Police say an investigation is ongoing and they say no arrests have been made nor any weapons recovered.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a shooting where an attempted robbery victim gained control over a suspect and shot him. According to police, the attempted robbery occurred on the 8000 block of Rodney Street in a driveway. Authorities say a man was unloading groceries from his car when a suspect approached him, saying, "This is a robbery," and pointed a gun at him. After a struggle over the weapon ensued, the victim was able to gain control of the gun, which discharged one time, grazing the suspect in the abdomen, according to police. Officials say the suspect was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was placed in stable condition. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESPolice say the victim sustained an injury from a bite on his hand, but he did no seek medical treatment. According to authorities, police recovered the weapon used and the suspect is under arrest. FOX 29's Kelly Rule captured this image which appears to show the victim's groceries and the suspect's gun used in the incident still on the front seat of the victim's car. This is a developing story.

Kevin O'Connell has been charged in connection with two carjackings where he is accused of using a syringe to threaten victims.  BUCKS COUNTY, Pa - The Bucks County District Attorney's Office has filed charges against a man who is accused of using a syringe to threaten people before stealing their cars. According to authorities, Kevin O'Connell threatened to inject victims with a syringe in two carjackings. The most recent carjacking, which left an 83-year-old woman hospitalized, was on Friday morning in Bristol Borough, according to the DA's Office. Police responded to the 200 block of Commerce Circle around 10:00 a.m.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department has released new video showing the end of a police chase after a shooting near the Shepard Recreation Center. Police say nearly 100 shots were fired on August 16 on the 400 block of North 57th Street. According to officials, responding officers found five people between the ages of 17 and 25 suffering from gunshot wounds, including a 21-year-old who was shot in the head. After the shooting, police chased a vehicle, which eventually crashed on the 200 block of Farson Street, officials say. Police released new video of the crash involving the suspects in a white dodge Durango. RELATED HEADLINESAuthorities say Tahmir Pinckney, 24, Marlon Spurell, 22, and Azyear Sutton-Walker, 22, were arrested and charged in connection with the shooting, but the search continues for additional suspects. Marlon spurell (left), Tahmir Pinckney (center) and Azyear Sutton-Walker (right) have been charged in the quintuple shooting in West Philadelphia.  (Philadelphia Police Department)Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the remaining two suspects. The City of Philadelphia is also offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the wanted suspects. 

TRENTON, N.J. - In an effort to help struggling families afford school supplies, the State of New Jersey is launching a sales tax holiday. According to the state, the 10-day sales tax holiday runs from August 27 to September 5. The New Jersey Department of the Treasury is reminding parents, teachers and students to take advantage of the statewide initiative. "Back-to-school shopping can be stressful on its own, but it can be even more stressful for those parents, students, and teachers who are struggling to make ends meet," New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said. "As inflation remains a central worry, this sales tax holiday is one of the ways in which we are prioritizing affordability for our families.
