PHILADELPHIA - A man and two children were hospitalized after police say they were struck by a hit-and-run driver Friday afternoon in West Philadelphia. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department responded to the crash at the intersection of 56th and Vine streets around noon. Police said two girls, ages 5 and 3, sustained "bodily injuries" in the crash.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for four people in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Germantown. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, the incident occurred just after 11 p.m. Thursday. Police say 14th District officers and medics responded to calls for an automobile accident with injuries in the 5400 block of Greene Street. When first responders arrived on scene, they found an unresponsive woman on the sidewalk with severe trauma to her head and body, Small says. Authorities say medics pronounced the woman dead on scene. Small says her identity is unknown at this time and that she appears to be a woman in her 40s or 50s. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to officials, she appeared to be wearing scrubs, but no identification was found. Investigators say a witness told police a white Chevrolet SUV traveling north on Greene Street when it crossed into oncoming traffic, jumped the curb and struck a utility pole, hitting it so hard that it split the pole in two places. After striking the pole, the car drove northbound on the curb and struck the woman walking, authorities say. Police say they believe she was dragged about 15 feet by the car before being run over. According to Small, the witness says after striking the woman, the car got back onto the northbound lane, stopped and then four people fled on foot. Authorities say they do not have any descriptions of the driver and passengers, but the vehicle is on location. Police know who the vehicle is registered to and they will be collecting evidence from the vehicle and the scene. Accident investigators are on location processing the scene and interviewing witnesses, authorities say. Police say four people fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in Germantown.

HARRISON TWP, N.J. - Harrison Township Fire Chief Matthew Cardile remembers exactly where he was when the powerful remnants of Hurricane Ida put his town in the crosshairs of a EF-3 tornado. "I never thought in 28 years of doing this business that I would see something like this," Cardile told FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce. "This is like something you see in the movies." Cardile captured the devastating scene from afar, recording the twister with 150 MPH winds and heavy rain as it bowled over a quiet community in Mullica Hill. He and other first responders immediately jumped into action to help victims who bore the brunt of the damage. The remnants of Hurricane Ida plowed over the Delaware Valley in late August of 2021.

POTTSTOWN, Pa. - Residents in a Pennsylvania community where a deadly house explosion killed five people, including four children, are demanding answers from investigators who have remained silent for months.The late-May explosion completely leveled a family home on Hale Street and Butler Avenues, and claimed the lives of a 67-year-old grandmother and four children ages 8-13-years-old. The victims were later identified as Francine White, 67, Alana Wood, 13, Jeremiah White, 12, Nehemiah White, 10, and 8-year-old Tristan White. Neighboring homes were damaged in the massive blast that reduced the property to nothing but a large pile of debris. The Red Cross said 11 families were displaced, a total of 34 people all together. RELATED HEADLINES:Rumors swirled about the possible cause of the explosion, including from the former homeowner who said he reported smelling natural gas during his 10 years of occupancy. "The whole time, the 10-years we lived there, we could smell gas," said Ryan Nagel who lived in the home in 2017.
