Coronavirus outbreak: 2,000 new COVID-19 cases in New York, 540 deaths
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Saturday that 2,000 new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed since Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 229,642. He said the number of new cases is similar to the numbers reported in late March when the surge started, “which also suggests the state is on its way down in the COVID-19 curve.” He also announced 540 new deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 12,822 in New York.
