New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will order people to wear masks in public when a safe distance from others cannot be maintained.
He revealed on Twitter: "I am issuing an Executive Order today that all people MUST wear a mask or face covering in public in situations where social distancing is not possible. "For example, if you are riding on public transit where it is impossible to maintain social distancing, or walking on a busy sidewalk, you must wear a face covering like a bandana or a mask." Mr Cuomo, who on Monday declared that the city had passed the worst stage of the pandemic, also disclosed an outline of his plan to reopen New York's shuttered economy.
