Considered nascent, the podcast industry’s biggest challenge is to get people to pay for audio content, which is also true for entertainment content in general.

Platform executives and media industry experts said while listeners have discovered genres such as fictional storytelling, mental health and spirituality, it is still difficult to make enough people pay for podcast content.

Also, the medium hasn’t traditionally found adequate skills, training or equipment in India. Further, most of the podcast content in India is still created in English, alienating several listeners.

Chrissy Metz and Boyfriend Bradley Collins Recall the Origins of Their Pandemic Romance (Exclusive)
Chrissy Metz and her boyfriend Bradley Collins are feeling the love this Valentine's Day. The couple, who are approaching their three-year dating anniversary in May, sat down with ET's Rachel Smith to kick off «Couples Week,» sharing everything from how they first met and the moment they fell in love to their new children's book, .«When we first met, which was over the pandemic, we got to know each other very well because all you could do was talk because you didn’t get together,» Metz recalled of the early days of their romance. The two met on the dating app, Bumble, while in Nashville, Tennessee. As Metz shared in the interview, they soon realized they had mutual friends among other things in common.«For me, prayer is always important and I think for Bradley as well, and we always talked about how we were raised and how important it was to bolster children’s self-esteem and confidence and so we just wanted to impart that,» Metz said of how their new book came about, also referencing her time as a preschool teacher as a key period in her life. «I have a big family, so we just wanted to impart that message and to do that through a gentle direction to prayer because it was so important to us.»Metz added that she herself prays for «everything, literally all the time.» «Every single moment, I'm sort of talking and asking for help or guidance or sort of grateful for all the blessings that I've received,» she said.

COVID remains a global health emergency, but nearing 'inflection' point: WHO
GENEVA (AP) - The coronavirus remains a global health emergency, the World Health Organization chief said Monday, after a key advisory panel found the pandemic may be nearing an "inflexion point" where higher levels of immunity can lower virus-related deaths.Speaking at the opening of WHO’s annual executive board meeting, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said "there is no doubt that we're in a far better situation now" than a year ago — when the highly transmissible Omicron variant was at its peak. But Tedros warned that in the last eight weeks, at least 170,000 people have died around the world in connection with the coronavirus. He called for at-risk groups to be fully vaccinated, an increase in testing and early use of antivirals, an expansion of lab networks, and a fight against "misinformation" about the pandemic."We remain hopeful that in the coming year, the world will transition to a new phase in which we reduce hospitalizations and deaths to the lowest possible level," he said.RELATED: Is the COVID-19 pandemic over? Fauci urges Americans — one last time — to get the updated COVID-19 booster
the nation's top infectious disease expert who became a household name — and the subject of partisan attacks — during the COVID-19 pandemic, announced this summer his retirement from the federal government. On Tuesday, he appeared at the White House podium to give likely his final message to Americans. His words came familiar and consistent messaging — get your COVID shot. The particular COVID shot that Fauci is referring to this time is a tweaked version of the vaccine, the second booster shot known as the bivalent booster. The first look at the new shots' real-world effectiveness shows they work, he explained."So my message, and what may be my final message from this podium," he added with his signature smile, "please, for your own safety, get your updated COVID-19 shot."The COVID-19 pandemic introduced Fauci to millions of Americans, though he's given straight talk to the nation about numerous other outbreaks including HIV/AIDS, SARS, pandemic flu, Ebola and the 2001 anthrax attacks. He directs the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden and also leads a lab studying the immune system. In announcing his departure, the 81-year-old Fauci called his roles "the honor of a lifetime" but said it was time "to pursue the next chapter of my career."Dr.

Is the COVID-19 pandemic over? WHO to vote whether to end global health emergency declaration
WASHINGTON - It’s almost hard to believe that nearly three years have passed since the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of a virus — later named SARS-CoV-2 — as a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC). But on Friday, a committee is meeting to deliberate and vote whether it is time to recommend to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus that he declare the global health emergency is over. The committee advises the director-general, who will make the final decision, but he generally follows the committee’s advice.Days before the vote, the director-general said in a media briefing that he was "very concerned" about the rising number of COVID-19 deaths globally. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus gives a press conference at the World Health Organization's headquarters in Geneva, on December 14, 2022.
