A jobseeker who received 400 job rejections over two years finally found work - only to be furlonged. Jake Hopes' luck had finally changed when he landed a role as a customer assistant with cinema chain Vue last September.

He said he knew things were looking bad when James Bond was cancelled ahead of its Easter release because of the coronavirus.

Jake had previously been turned down by the likes of ASDA and Pizza Hut during his hunt for work, where he sent an estimated four applications per week.

But the coronavirus pandemic meant just six months after finding work the cinema closed its doors and he was furloughed. Mr Hopes, 24, said: "It is definitely not what I would have wanted being stuck at home.
