This month is set to be the sunniest April on record in the UK despite Brits being on coronavirus lockdown, according to the Met Office.
New provisional information suggests that April 2020 is now the sunniest on record with 212.5 hours of sunshine having been recorded so far, the forecaster has said.
The previous record was 211.9 hours in 2015. It comes as health officials fear Britons are starting to get complacent about the Covid-19 lockdown after traffic and mobile phone data revealed more of us are on the roads and looking for directions.
Professor Stephen Powis, national medical director of NHS England, said on Saturday "there was a little bit of concern" after the unseasonably warm weather drew big crowds to public spaces.
